Educ 6710 Reflective Essay

  Through this course I have gained a vast amount of educational web 2.0 tools to use in the classroom.   The resources and activities provided have helped me to enrich my technological practices and refreshed the way that I present content. As Richardson states, “the teacher’s role must and will change and that schools themselves must embrace different culture and outcomes to effectively prepare students for what the future holds” (Richardson, 2015). I believe that this course has allowed me to do that. The most useful for me was the Wiki page with embedded assignments for students. I have started using this in my classroom and will continue.           I have deepened my knowledge of teaching and learning with technology by leveraging its usefulness alongside traditional curricular instruction. 11/13 Plan to use Blogging in the classroom

      Hi, my name’s Ms.Jenkins and I teach ELA and Social Studies to 42 Amazing First graders within my Title 1 educational setting I am a one teacher classroom where students do a half a day with each teacher. Previously I have used tech in the classroom for running progress monitoring programs, and teaching games, however blogging is something that is new to me in the Elementary classroom. I think it is a great concept to introduce and because I teach ELA may be a perfect tool to incorporate into our classroom this year, I am however still considering how.     Teaching so many young students and being responsible for their academic growth, social emotional wellness and overall progression within our ever-changing world is a challenge.  Hello here you will find my experiences over the years as well as resources that I am finding helpful as a teacher. I'' start with a bio. I was born and raised here in Washington DC. She attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts and graduated in 2005. I began her teaching career during college as a daycare assistant and developed my love for children through playing with them and watching them grow daily. She attended University of Maryland College Park where I graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. After working as a Head Start Daycare Teacher for several years I opened her own Family Home childcare which in Partnership with Maryland Public schools and HeadStart serviced 25 families over the span of 5 years. At this time I e decided to take her love of learning into the school setting by becoming a licensed teacher withing the District of Columbia school system.
